The process

What to expect

  1. 01

    A Will

A Will is a legal document setting out how your assets are to be distributed and who will act as your executor when you pass away.

  2. 02

    Probate

Probate is a grant from the Supreme Court of NSW confirming that a Will is valid and that the named executor has authority to administer the estate.

  3. 03

    Letters of Administration

Where there is no valid Will, the Court may grant Letters of Administration to an appropriate person, usually a close relative, to administer the estate.

  4. 04

    Administration

The executor or administrator collects the assets, pays debts and expenses, and distributes the estate to the beneficiaries entitled to it.
